Tracking dangerous heat, limited storm chances the next few days

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy with lows in the upper 70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with a few storms, especially east. Highs in the upper 90s with heat indices near 110.

EXTENDED: Dangerous heat continues for the next several days as upper high pressure is centered just to our south. Highs reach the mid-upper 90s the next few days with heat indices reaching 105-110 through Thursday. The upper level storm track will be just north of us, keeping most of the strong storms right along the Mississippi River. A few of those storms may clip our northeastern counties Tuesday afternoon into the evening, but most stay dry. Heat continues through late week, with a cold front moving in from the north between Thursday and Friday. We can expect a chance of a few storms, with the main change being lower humidity as dew points fall into the upper 50s to around 60 through the weekend. Heat looks to build yet again next week, with dangerous heat possible by midweek.
