Strong south winds have helped shatter temperature records across Mid-Missouri this afternoon, but more pressing will be the threat for storms given the ripe environment this evening. A cold front moving into a moisture-rich, warm environment has triggered a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moving out of Kansas into far western Missouri Wednesday evening.

Task Force 1 ran assessments on more than 1,600 structures and did wellness checks while in Mayfield. The team searched buildings for survivors and assessed the damage, which ranged from none to destruction. Task Force 1 uploaded its data into a GPS system that helped populate a map that local officials could use.
