Tracking strong gusty winds, near record high temperatures on Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and breezy with lows near 60. Wind gusts between 20-25 mph.

TOMORROW: Warm and very windy with south wind gusts between 40-50 mph. Highs in the lower 70s. A Wind Advisory will go into effect for most of Mid-Missouri through late tomorrow night.

EXTENDED:  Winds begin to pick up overnight as low pressure inches closer to us. Gusts will get up to 20-25 mph overnight, and increase throughout the day tomorrow. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire area between late morning and late Wednesday night. Gusts could range between 45-50 mph before our cold front arrives, so we'll need to be on the lookout for isolated power outages and tough travel conditions on west/east routes. A cold front moves in from the west, bringing a chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms between about 7:00 p.m. and midnight. A few of those storms could bring isolated strong wind gusts between 60-65 mph. Right now we are in marginal risk (lowest) on the severe weather scale for the western half of the area. The best shot at more organized severe will be up across northwest Iowa. As rain exits late tomorrow night, we'll be left with cooler temperatures on Thursday as we drop into the 40s for the morning with decreasing winds and highs in the lower 50s. Another front sets up across northern Arkansas on Friday, sending showers to areas south of I-70 on Friday. Temperatures hover around 50 to end the week. Showers exit Friday night, leaving us drier to start the weekend. However, as this system moves east, we'll pull in some colder more winter-like air for the weekend as temperatures remain in the lower 40s. We're dry Saturday and Sunday with another system potentially bringing rain right before Christmas.
