Tracking warm and gusty conditions today

TODAY: A storm system developing out to our west will generate a lot of wind today. Winds will be whipping out of the south with sustained speeds around 20-25 mph but gusts will approach 50 mph at times. Our south wind along with our abnormally warm start this morning will get highs into the low to mid 70's this afternoon.

TONIGHT: A cold front will be approaching the area after sunset. That will trigger a line of showers and storms which could bring an additional wind threat of their own, but should pass through by midnight. We'll have a few more showers to mop up but the severe threat will be over as lows fall into the middle 40's.

EXTENDED: We're dry and bringing back the sunshine on Thursday. Cooler air will be setting up, keeping highs in the low 50's. That's about where things top out on Friday, but the rain chances will return. Showers will be off and on throughout the day before coming to an end overnight. As the rain comes to an end, the winds will shift out of the north again, bringing back some cooler weather for the weekend. Highs on Saturday will only top out in the low 40's with overnight lows in the 20's. We're in the middle 40's going forward after Saturday.
