One Mid-Missouri soccer team left in the race for state

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMIZ)

The Southern Boone Eagles are the last Mid-Missouri team left in contention for a state championship.

The Eagles dominated New Covenant Academy, in a 6-0 win, in the state semifinals on Saturday.

Southern Boone will meet the Whitfield Warriors in the state championship on Friday, November 20.

"As a team, we've been working all year for this moment. It's just it's finally all paying off," Southern Boone senior Landon Beesen said.

The Jefferson City Jays were also in the race for state on Saturday, in a semifinal matchup with St. Dominic.

The race came to an end as the St. Dominic Crusaders took a 2-0 win over the Jays, to advance to the finals.

Jefferson City ended its season 25-3.

"I think that's life, you know, when things happen to you and you get in unfortunate situations, your character is defined by your response," head coach Scott Blake said. "It's not what happens to you, it's how you respond."
