Mizzou star Helen Hu is the first individual national champion in Tiger gymnastics history.

On Thursday, the redshirt senior won the NCAA Gymnastics Balance Beam National Championship during NCAA Championship Semifinal action at Dickies Arena, with a score of 9.9875. Her performance not only earned her that title, but was critical in MU advancing to the program's first-ever final four.

Hu's final year of collegiate gymnastics has been quite a ride, as she's proven herself as the best beam queen in the nation. As a result of all her work, she was named to the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association First Team All-American, won the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Year, won the SEC Balance Beam Championship and the NCAA Seattle Regional Beam Championship and earned three perfect 10.000's throughout the season.

The Chicago native joins track and field's Jonathan Seremes as the second individual national champion at Mizzou during the 2024-25 athletic year.

Up next - Hu and the Tigers will compete in its first-ever NCAA Championship Final on Saturday, April 19 at 4 p.m. at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
