Tracking several more chances for thunderstorms

TODAY: Wednesday is a cooler day, with highs about 10-15 degrees cooler than Tuesday. Highs reach only into the mid-70s with partly cloudy skies and a north breeze. A few showers and storms are likely near I-44 this afternoon. Most of mid-Missouri will be dry.

TONIGHT: Outflow from storms south will build a chance for showers late tonight north to I-70. Temperatures remain in the upper 50s with clouds and rain.

EXTENDED: Thursday brings a mostly dry day after overnight showers wrap up during the early morning. A warm front lifts through the region, pushing temperatures back into the 80s, and bringing a chance for storms in the evening into the overnight. Severe weather is not expected to be prevalent, but an isolated strong storm cannot be ruled out. Friday will be again in the 80s, as we track the warm front lifting further north. At this time, a cold front will push in from the west. This will drive scattered storms from the morning to the afternoon. These storms may become strong to severe into the afternoon Friday, with a growing chance into the afternoon. This places the severe threat mostly east of Columbia and Jefferson City, but a strong storm cannot be ruled out in these locations just yet. Saturday is mostly dry, and somewhat cooler behind Friday's front. Highs will settle in the 70s Saturday, before storms and 80s return with our next system on Sunday. This will be another opportunity for stronger storms, but details are fuzzy. The forecast trends quieter and cooler into early next week.
