Tracking scattered showers and storms tonight, severe threat Monday night
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms possible. No severe weather expected. Lows in the upper 50s.
TOMORROW: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s.
EXTENDED: An active week is setting up across Mid-Missouri with scattered showers and storms exiting after midnight. Monday starts off dry, but it's warmer and more humid as a warm front slowly lifts north during the day. A strong low pressure system will trigger a wide area of severe thunderstorms across the Plains by late afternoon into the evening, and we can expect to be on the receiving end of those storms by late Monday night. A Weather Alert Day will be in effect from 9 p.m. Monday through 7:00 a.m. Tuesday for the threat of damaging winds and a few spin-up tornadoes as a squall line progresses east overnight. Storms exit by daybreak, leaving us with drier weather for Tuesday and highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Wednesday will bring another shot at strong storms as low pressure tracks right across the state and brings a cold front with it. We'll dry out for the end of the week as highs reach the upper 60s to low 70s. Next weekend looks seasonable with a chance for rain on Saturday.
