Tracking cold nights and a slow warm up

TODAY: We'll have a split between sunshine and clouds today, with the edge of cloud cover making it o Columbia and Jefferson City, but cloudy skies likely over eastern communities like Paris, Mexico, Fulton, and Montgomery City for much of the day. This will have folks a bit cooler this afternoon, with those under sunshine in the west a bit warmer. Highs are much like yesterday, in the 40s and 50s.

TONIGHT: Clouds push further east tonight, leaving potential for more cooling. Winds will also be a bit lighter. This may promote some pooling of cold air near the surface if they can calm completely, allowing temperatures to fall into the near to below freezing territory. Freeze warnings and a frost advisory are in place across all counties except for near the Lake of the Ozarks.

EXTENDED: Friday is sunnier, with low clouds shifting east, and high clouds moving in from the west. We'll be warmer, in the upper 50s if not low 60s because of this. Southeast winds return Saturday, putting us in the mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. Saturday night and Sunday morning, a warm front brings a chance for showers and a few rumbles of thunder. No severe weather is expected. This will be over by noon on Sunday, and we'll see highs reach 70s. Monday through Wednesday looks like we could see temperatures near 70, with dry and partly cloudy skies on Monday, but rain chances looming Tuesday and Wednesday.
