QUESTION OF THE DAY: Was Mun Choi right to warn students about a section of downtown Columbia?

University of Missouri President Mun Choi started off the school year with a message to students. Buried in it was a red flag to students: a warning about the dangers of a two-block stretch of downtown after dark.

Choi has been at odds with City of Columbia and Boone County leaders about what he sees as a serious crime problem in downtown Columbia. His ire has in particular focused on an area of Walnut Street between Eighth and Tenth streets, which he spells out in his message to students.
