Kansas City prepares for Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Thousands of fans are expected to attend Wednesday's Super Bowl Victory Parade in Kansas City.
The parade celebrating the Chiefs will begin at 11 a.m. on a two-mile stretch down Grand Boulevard. The parade ends at Union Station, with a victory rally expected to start there at 12:45 p.m. The ABC 17 News Stormtrack Weather Team says it will be 52 degrees when the parade starts, warming up to 63 degrees by the time it is expected to reach Union Station.
KMBC reports that the Kansas City Council authorized the KC Sports Commission to spend $1 million on this year's parade. The National WWI Museum and Memorial has space for public viewing on the north lawn. Several roads are closed around the parade route, and city officials have set up places for families to meet back up if they become lost.
ABC 17 News saw about 100 fans already gathered at the victory rally stage in front of Union Station at 5:30 a.m.
FOX 22 and abc17news.com will stream the parade live when it begins. ABC 17's Lucas Geisler and Nathalie Jones will give live team coverage of the parade at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on ABC 17 News.
