Tracking April-like air ahead of snow chances
TODAY: After most of us saw the mercury climb into the 60s on Tuesday, Wednesday is shaping up to be just as warm. We'll expect south winds and sunshine through some fair weather clouds to drive highs into the 60s once more.
TONIGHT: Once more, for now, at least as a weak cold front arrives overnight to bring a slim chance at showers north of I-70, but more impactfully, a slight cool down.
EXTENDED: Temperatures only fall into the low 40s Thursday morning, but also only recover to near 50 by Thursday afternoon, thanks to some north wind. Still, Thursday brings plenty of sunshine to keep us about 5 degrees above what is average for the time of year. We're noticeably cooler on Friday, as more clouds and rain work in ahead of another cold front. This time, there will likely be better precipitation, and a changeover to snow behind the front. This switchover looks like it could come around midday. There has been some uncertainty on placement of this system, but in the last 12-24 hours, a track more central to mid-Missouri is becoming apparent, and this would potentially paint a swath of minor accumulation through the region. Right now, this looks most likely north of I-70, and accumulations looks most likely to amount to less than an inch. It's a bit early for specifics, but given the environment, and warm ground temperatures, travel impacts should be minimal, and accumulations mostly sticking to grassy and elevated surfaces. By Saturday, we're dry and cool, with highs in the 30s under sunny skies. A warmup ensues into early next week, with 50s and sunshine forecast for Sunday through Tuesday.
