Traffic impacts in store for Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade in Kansas City Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
After the Kansas City Chief's conquered the San Francisco 49er's this past Sunday in Super Bowl 58, the team is now back in Kansas City for the celebration parade, and there are a few things you may want to know ahead of time if you plan on attending.
The parade is set to kick off at 11 a.m. Wednesday starting at 6th St. and Grand Boulevard heading south, west onto Pershing Rd., north onto Main St. and wrapping up at Union Station. The parade will be about an hour and a half long.
According to the parades website, several road closures will be in affect around the city.
Pershing Rd. from Main St. to Kessler Rd will be closed. Streets running east and west of Grand Blvd. will be closed between Walnut and McGee from 6th St.
Car traffic will be allowed on 7th St., Admiral Blvd., and 18th street until 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Pedestrian crossing throughout the parade will be located at 9th, 13th, 18th and 20th Streets and Truman Rd. Large red feather flags will be at each pedestrian crosswalk.
Motorists are asked to avoid all areas along the parade route and should use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
Streets will reopened as conditions allow.
As for public safety at the parade, the perimeter will be secured and protected.
They are asking attendees to not leave bags unattended, make plans ahead of time regarding travel, parking, taking care of children and dressing warm enough.
Cell phone service may be extremely limited, so making a plan with your group incase you get separated ahead of time is recommended.
If you or someone from your group gets lost, find a police officer and they will take you to one of seven reunification locations.
Those include two UMB Banks, the KCMPD, T-Mobile Center Concourse, Resurrection Downtown, BlueCross & Blue Shield and Lunchland at Crown Center.
