JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) -

A Columbia shooting suspect now faces a federal gun charge after his arrest in Jefferson City.

Federal prosecutors charged Shaune Price for unlawful possession of a gun. Jefferson City police arrested Price on March 23 after stopping a Greyhound bus Price was on and found a gun in his bag. Price has a felony conviction from Ohio, making it illegal for him to possess a gun.

A Boone County judge issued a warrant for Price' s arrest in January for a New Year's Eve shooting in west Columbia. Columbia police said Price fired a shot into a mirror in the 100 block of Clinkscales Road.

Jefferson City police officer Sheri Kauffman wrote in a federal affidavit that she saw Price's significant other drop him off at the Convenience Food Mart in Jefferson City, where he later got onto a Greyhound bus. Police pulled the bus over and arrested Price for the Boone County warrant. Kauffman said officers found a Glock handgun in his duffle bag. Price allegedly told investigators his significant other packed his bag, and that he did not know it held a gun.

Kauffman said she later test fired the handgun and sent two shell casings to Columbia police detectives for testing. The affidavit said the entry into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms' National Integrated Ballistic Information Network matched shell casings found at three other Columbia shooting scenes, including the Clinkscales Road incident. The test allegedly linked the gun used with a shooting on Oct. 31, 2021 on Walnut Street between Fourth and Fifth Street.

Another happened on Nov. 6, 2021 outside Gold Bar on East Broadway. Kauffman said Price was reportedly working security at the business at the time someone fired shots into the bar. Christopher Sledd faces both federal and state charges for the shooting, including first-degree assault.

Court records show Price made his first appearance in Boone County on the New Year's Eve shooting on Wednesday. A bond hearing will take place on April 27.
