Shots fired in downtown Columbia Sunday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple shots were fired in downtown Columbia around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.

ABC 17 News crews on scene saw police had Walnut St. blocked off from 4th St. to 5th St. in downtown Columbia to investigate after the shooting.

The Columbia Police Department said police on foot patrol heard multiple gunshots in the area and found five to six shell casings on the ground.

CPD said no one was hurt in the shooting and no property damage could be located.

As of 3:30 a.m. CPD said it was working on a suspect description and had not arrested anyone in relation to the shooting.

This, comes as CPD has responded to multiple shots fired calls in the area of 5th and Walnut over the past six weeks, including Sep. 18 when two people were shot on N. Fifth St. both suffering from moderate injuries.
