Second early morning shooting confirmed in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department has confirmed a second shooting in downtown Columbia early Sunday morning.

CPD told ABC 17 News crews on scene that around 10 shots were fired in the area of Walnut and 5th Street around 5 a.m.

The department said at this time no injuries are reported.

  1. An officer downtown heard about 10 shots and a vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed. Moments later there was about 10 more shots close by. A crime scene with shell casings was identified.

    But don’t worry Columbia, when there are shootings downtown the Police say they do not “believe there was a threat to the community.”
