Man charged after deadly overdose in Osage Beach
OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man is in police custody after an overdoes led to one person's death and detectives found evidence of child endangerment.
Osage Beach law enforcement responded to a home in Camden County for a deadly overdose, according to a probable cause statement. When they arrived, officers found a 31-year-old on the floor of the main bedroom next to the bed. They were pronounced dead on scene by Osage Beach ambulance.
Hunter Charles Smith Sr. was also found inside the house. Smith admitted to detectives the victim used Fentanyl and then went to sleep after having relations with Smith. When he woke up, Smith found out the victim would not wake up.
Smith is now being held on charges including seven counts of child endangerment.
A glass pan with a white powder on it on the dresser tested positive for fentanyl by the Mid-Mo Drug Task Force. There were also used diapers and two cell phones not belonging to Smith or the victim in the room.
According to the probable cause statement, the home was found with trash, decaying food and diapers laying throughout. Maggots were found in the kitchen and dog feces on the floor of multiple rooms.
