COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors filed charges Monday morning against a man suspected of drunk driving in a crash that killed a Mizzou student.
Duncan McCracking, 24, of Columbia, was charged with DWI that resulted in death and armed criminal action. He also is accused of a misdemeanor traffic violation.
McCracking is accused of crashing into the vehicle of Ashley Footer, 19, of Kansas City, nearly two weeks ago near the intersection of Providence Road and Route K.
Footer later died from her injuries on Oct. 30.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, McCracking drove through a red light and crashed into Footer's Vehicle. Troopers arrested McCracking at the scene for DUI that resulted in a serious injury.
According to court records, McCracking smelled strongly of intoxicants, he was stumbling around, swaying, he had glassy watery bloodshot eyes, was lethargic and had slurred speech.
A trooper that spoke with McCracking on the scene said that McCracking said he was too intoxicated to be driving safely.
McCracking was again arrested on Sunday around 8 p.m. for driving while intoxicated that resulted in a death, failure to obey a traffic control device, and armed criminal action.
According to jail records, McCracking is being held without bond.
