Two teenagers accused of weekend Moberly shooting
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney charged two teenagers with first-degree assualt after they were accused of a shooting that happened Sunday night.
Moberly Police Chief Troy Link said at least four people have been taken into custody also linked to the shooting.
Court documents say 19-year-old Jairee Holmes and 18-year-old Aaron Clay were in a car that allegedly shot at a house on Harvest Lane.
According to their probable cause statements, Holmes and Clay drove to a residence in the 1400 block of Harvest on Sunday afternoon to 'get their friend's money back.'
Court documents say Clay alleged that someone in the truck fired at his car and started to chase him and Holmes. Police say a handgun and ammunition were found inside Clay's vehicle after a search.
Witnesses told police multiple shots were fired from Clay's vehicle and another car on Harvest.
Documents say Clay admitted that he saw Holmes fire the gun from the car's passenger window.
Online jail records said Clay and Holmes were held in the Randolph County Jail on $140,000 bonds. Court records say both men face a count each of assault and armed criminal action.
The police department said on Monday a 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody also accused of the shooting. Officers said the suspect was later released from jail.
Link said a fourth suspect was arrested late Monday night on suspicion of the shooting. The police chief said the suspect was being held in jail without bail as of Tuesday.
