Tracking showers and storms overnight into Sunday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with showers and storms moving in overnight into Sunday morning. A few storms could bring gusty winds. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Tonight, we'll see more cloud coverage through the evening but it will stay dry for the entirety of the Mizzou football game. A cold front to our northwest will trigger showers and storms overnight across northern and northwest Missouri, with activity moving into Mid-Missouri before daybreak. We'll see showers and storms come to an end by mid-morning, but some lingering cloud cover could keep temperatures from pushing past the upper 80s. The front will be stalled over our area in the afternoon, so I expect some redevelopment of storms along the boundary from Sunday night into early Monday, especially along and south of the I-70 corridor. Rain totals will be in the 0.5-1" range, and the severe risk is looking limited outside of a few isolated strong wind gusts and small hail in late afternoon storms on Sunday. Next week will be noticeably and thankfully cooler with highs in the 70s behind our front as high pressure settles to our northeast over the Great Lakes. We'll have some remaining cloud cover on Tuesday, making for our coolest day of the week with highs in the upper 60s to around 70. We could see another front approaching between Thursday night and Friday, bringing our next rain chance.
