Court docs: 2 women found with 25 bank cards charged in stolen identity scheme
BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two women were arrested and charged in Cooper County with trafficking stolen identities after troopers say they were found with 25 bank cards and other identifying documents that belonged to five people.
Kenita Harris, of Madison, Mississippi, and Bianca Martin, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, were charged on Saturday. Court dates have not been set. Only Harris was listed on the Cooper County Jail roster on Monday evening, but court documents say both were brought to the jail on Friday. Warrants were issued for both and $10,000 bonds were set.
According to the probable cause statement, law enforcement was called at 11:36 a.m. Friday after someone claimed two women with knives were in a silver Kia and were not allowing the caller to leave as they traveled on Route J. The women eventually let the caller go, the statement says.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper saw the vehicle on Route J and the Kia pulled into a private driveway after seeing the trooper, the statement says. The trooper gave commands and Martin claimed they didn’t do anything and claimed the caller threatened them, the statement says.
The trooper searched the Kia and found several Social Security cards, bank cards and other financial records of people who were not in the vehicle, the statement says.
Martin allegedly told the trooper that the person who called 911 put those cards there, while Harris allegedly said they both worked at Dollar General and took the cards and financial records from the lost and found.
The trooper wrote that “it was apparent” Martin and Harris were trafficking stolen identities.
