Tracking heat and humidity for the rest of the week
THIS AFTERNOON: Beautiful and bright with highs in the lower 80s with low humidity.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the lower to mid-60s.
EXTENDED: Our upper pattern begins to shift as a high pressure ridge nudges in our direction. We'll be on the northern periphery of that, right near the storm track through the weekend. Heat and humidity will be the main story as highs reach to near 90 on Wednesday, but it gets even hotter as south winds push us into the mid-90s with heat indices near 100 degrees on Thursday. We'll be tracking a cold front that moves in from the north on Thursday, potentially bringing storms by early evening. Some of those storms could produce heavy downpours, large hail, and gusty winds as areas along and north of I-70 are in a level 2 severe risk. The cold front will slide to our south on Friday, allowing temperatures to cool slightly with lower humidity. The upper ridge builds yet again for the weekend into next week with high temperatures soaring back into the 90s. The heat index will reach past 100 degrees on Father's Day, so it's important to remember to reapply sunscreen and stay hydrated if you plan to be outdoors.
