A Columbia Police Department officer was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated late Sunday night.

A Boone County Sheriff's Department deputy pulled over Kyle P. Lucas, 51, of Columbia, on Highway 63 southbound and Deer Park after he was allegedly speeding and violating lane restrictions, said Sgt. Brian Leer with BCSD.

Lucas performed field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of DWI.

Lucas' blood alcohol content was at least double the legal limit, Leer said. However, information on his exact BAC was not immediately available.

CPD confirmed that Lucas is employed by the City of Columbia as a police officer.

Lucas was booked into the Boone County Jail at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday on a $500 bond. He has since bonded out of jail.
