Columbia man accused in June ARC fight pleads guilty to assault

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man who was accused in a fight at Columbia’s Activity and Recreation Center in June will be sentenced in March.

Kameron Mearidy, 19, pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree assault. He was initially charged with first-degree assault -- knowingly causing serious physical injury. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 8. He is currently being held at the Boone County Jail.

Lakeisha R. Thomas, 37, pleaded guilty earlier this month to second-degree assault for her involvement in the fight. She was initially charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, according to previous reporting. She will be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 11.

Thomas allegedly told police that she grabbed her gun from outside the building and went back inside the ARC where people were still fighting when she hit someone with a gun, according to a probable cause statement. The action led to a boy's teeth being knocked out, according to the statement.

Four people in total were arrested the day of the fight, according to previous reporting.

In another case, Mearidy was charged in Boone County with receiving stolen property. A hearing in that case is set for March 8.
