A second adult has been charged for their involvement in a fight at Columbia’s Activity and Recreation Center in June

Kameron Mearidy, 18, of Jefferson City, was charged Monday with second-degree assault. He is not listed on the Boone County Jail roster. A warrant was ordered Tuesday and a $20,000 bond was set. A court date has not been scheduled.

Mearidy was initially issued a citation, according to court records and previous reporting. He was one of two people cited.

According to a probable cause statement, Mearidy was seen on camera kicking and punching someone more than 20 times. After the victim fell to the ground, he continued to land punches and also allegedly kicked and stomped the victim at least four times while he was still on the ground.

Court documents say the victim had visible injuries and was bleeding from their mouth. The statement says he was missing several front teeth.

Lakeisha R. Thomas, 37, was also charged for her involvement in the incident with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Thomas was held in the jail on a $25,000 bond, which was posted July 21, according to court records.

A hearing was scheduled for Thomas' case on Monday at the Boone County Courthouse; but a motion for continuance was filed July 26. Her next court date has yet to be scheduled, according to Casenet.

Thomas allegedly told police that she grabbed her gun from outside the building and went back inside the ARC where people were still continuing to fight and she hit someone with a gun, according to a probable cause statement. The action led to a boy's teeth being knocked out, according to the statement.

Four people in total were arrested the day of the fight, according to previous reporting. Sydney Olsen, spokesperson for the City of Columbia, said on June 12 that all four people have been banned from the ARC and all city parks.

A boy was also arrested, according to police in June, for assault, making terroristic threat and a weapons offense. He was turned over to the Boone County Juvenile Office.
