Tracking a cold front that brings a slim chance for showers

TODAY: Mostly sunny skies with a continued east-southeast breeze at about 10-15 mph will render another day in the upper 70s and low 80s.

TONIGHT: High and thin clouds will arrive this afternoon and thicken overnight. Temperatures drop into the low 50s and upper 40s.

EXTENDED: On Wednesday, winds will turn more southerly, attempting to warm us back into the 80s, but it remains a question how much that will work against thickening clouds and showers trying to develop. Showers will try to get going ahead of a cold front, but will struggle thanks to exceedingly dry conditions. The best chance of showers will be north of I-70 in the afternoon. Behind the front, temperatures will cool slightly for Thursday, into the 70s. A secondary front rolls in Thursday evening, this time with no rain chance, and cools us further. Expect Friday to start in the 40s and end in the low 60s. We're down right chilly Saturday morning with lows in the mid-30s areawide, prompting concern for widespread frost. Highs reach 60s on Saturday, low 70s on Sunday, and mid-to-upper 70s on Monday when we see our next sliver of a chance for rainfall.
