Tracking another day of intense heat, scattered storms Tuesday

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and humid with lows in the upper 70s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with isolated to scattered showers and storms. Highs near 90 with a heat index between 100-105.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be uncomfortably warm with lows remaining in the upper 70s to near 80. I'll be tracking a slow moving cold front that could allow some showers and storms to develop as low level winds kick up over the area. Showers and storms will be scattered, with dangerous heat continuing as highs still reach around 90 with a heat index between 100-105. The front clears to our south on Wednesday, allowing dew points to drop to more tolerable levels. We'll remain in the upper 80s to around 90 through Thursday ahead of a disturbance that will move in from the northwest, triggering scattered showers and storms between late Thursday and most of Friday. We could end up seeing some locally high rainfall amounts as the Weather Prediction Center has much of Mid-Missouri in a slight risk for excessive rainfall on Friday. A couple storms may additionally produce isolated strong winds. We'll begin clearing out for the weekend, with much more pleasant temperatures in store with highs in the low to mid-80s.
