Tracking extreme heat continuing throughout the rest of the week

TODAY: I'm tracking chances of showers and storms exiting throughout the early afternoon hours as dangerous heat takes back over. Actual air temperatures will get into the low 90s as winds blow out of the southwest at 8-12 mph, gusting up to 20 mph, which will continue to bring moisture into the area and drive heat index values into the 105-110 degree range. This is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be in effect.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly quiet and humid evening as temperatures gradually drop back down into the mid to upper 70s by the end of the night. Winds will continue to blow out of the south at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking extreme heat and isolated storm chances continuing throughout Thursday and Friday. Actual air temperatures will reach into the mid-90s each afternoon, but humidity will once again make it feel like it is 105-110 degrees. These will also be ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days for extreme heat, and although Saturday is expected to be hot in the mid-90s, humidity will be on the lower end, so heat index values are not expected to exceed dangerous thresholds. One more hot day can be expected on Sunday, but the passage of a cold front will bring slightly better chances for showers and storms from Sunday into Monday. This will bring cooler conditions to start next week.
