Tracking a dry afternoon before Wednesday morning showers and thunderstorms
TODAY: Tuesday is mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with a high in the mid-50s amid a southeast breeze around 5-10 mph.
TONIGHT: Skies will become increasingly cloudy overnight ahead of another system Wednesday. Temperatures remain in the 40s with a light south breeze overnight.
EXTENDED: Scattered showers will work through the area from west to east with at most some thunder. Showers will arrive near Sedalia around 7-9 a.m., reach Columbia closer to the lunch hour, and begin to exit near Montgomery city closer to 3 p.m. Precipitation totals look slim, with the greatest likelihood for most coming between a few hundredths to a quarter of an inch. Rain keeps highs forecast in the 50s, despite southerly flow leading up to the rain. Behind the rain, winds briefly switch from the north. Still, overall warming is expected with sunshine and 60s the rest of the week. Our next rain likely holds off until late Sunday into Monday.
