Tracking pleasant conditions ahead of Easter storms

THIS AFTERNOON: Friday is warm and partly cloudy with gusty winds at times from the southwest. Winds will be sustained near 20 mph and gust up to 30+ mph, pushing temperatures into the mid-70s.

TONIGHT: We'll stay warm overnight ahead of a weak cold front. Some light showers will be possible but it's likely that we're mostly dry.

EXTENDED: This front stalls between I-70 and I-44 tomorrow, keeping clouds around with a sharp temperature gradient from north to south. Highs will range from 60s to 70s across the region. The nearby front triggers another chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday might see a lull in precipitation during the day, but chances for storms will stick with us through Easter. Thunderstorms are more likely again in the evening, both along and south of the front, bringing a slight chance for hail. This boundary lifts north as a warm front on Monday, with an area of low pressure moving in from the west. This sets us up for a better chance for storms on Monday, and we've been tracking severe potential with this now for days. All types of severe weather are in the forecast for Monday. We'll be cooler behind this system on Tuesday with 50s returning midweek. Showers linger Tuesday, but sun returns Wednesday and Thursday.
