Tracking light precipitation tonight, warming temperatures over the weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Clouds slowly fill in this afternoon, limiting high temperatures to the upper 30s. Precipitation should hold off until near sundown for most of the area.

TONIGHT: Light rain arrives in western Missouri mid to late afternoon and spreads into our region early tonight. This could freeze across counties north of I-70 in colder air, but dry conditions near the surface areawide will limit accumulations. Overall, no impacts are expected as precip exits before Saturday morning.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will warm into the low 50s on the west side of high pressure Saturday afternoon. By Sunday, a warm front lifting over the region will bring highs in the 60s along with isolated to scattered thunderstorms around midday. Widespread rain and storms will move in Sunday night or Monday morning as a cold front sweeps in. Monday is warm, in the 60s through midday, until cold air behind the front knocks temperatures down a notch on Tuesday. Still, highs on Tuesday should reach the mid-to-upper 50s with sunshine ahead of a warmer day on Wednesday.
