Tracking a chilly morning and cool weather by kickoff for Mizzou

TODAY: I'm tracking temperatures below freezing to start the day, which is why an area-wide freeze warning is in effect until 8 A.M. Mid- to upper-level clouds will be present through the day as winds shift into the southwest at 3-6 mph, but sunshine will still be able to break through those clouds, helping temperatures warm into the low 50s by the afternoon.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking clouds gradually clearing overnight as southwesterly winds pick up at 5-10 mph. By dawn tomorrow, expect temperatures once again in the low to mid 30s.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a slightly warmer afternoon Sunday as southerly flow continues and sunshine persists, with temperatures topping out in the mid-60s. High pressure will then push temperatures into the upper 60s and low 70s on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday, the high-pressure pattern breaks down, and with that, clouds increase and cooler air returns. For now, Mid-Missouri will remain dry as temperatures drop back into the low 60s on Thursday and the upper 50s on Friday.
