Tracking gusty winds, cooler end to the week

TONIGHT: Passing clouds with cooler temperatures settling in. Gusty winds up to 20 mph will help drop temperatures into the lower 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: A few clouds slide by tonight with a weaker, dry front moving in overnight. That will help drop temperatures to the low 40s by tomorrow morning. With a drier air mass in place and gusty winds the next two days, we'll have to stay aware of fire weather conditions. The NWS has already placed the southern third of Mid-Missouri in a red flag warning for tomorrow. Despite temperatures dropping to near 40 on Friday morning, we likely won't see much frost due to the winds. Clouds return Friday evening ahead of another front that will bring a few showers after sunset on Friday into Saturday morning. The rest of the weekend is quiet with highs in the upper 60s to around 70 on Saturday afternoon and low to mid-60s on Sunday. Next week is chilly to start with morning temperatures in the upper 30s on Monday. We'll likely have widespread frost on Tuesday morning with highs only reaching the 50s. We begin to warm again toward mid-late week as upper winds shift back southwest.
