Tracking mid-weekend rain and a big cool down by Sunday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows falling into the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with increasing clouds by late afternoon. Highs reach the upper 80s. Rain chances limited to areas south of I-44.

EXTENDED: The weekend starts off warm, but I'm still tracking low pressure to our east that will bring a chance for a few spot showers near I-44. The rest of the area stays hot and mostly sunny for Saturday as we creep back into the upper 80s by late afternoon. A fast moving cold front to our northwest will begin moving in during the day, increasing clouds by evening. Showers will lag behind the boundary, moving into areas across northwest Missouri before midnight, and spreading across Mid-Missouri overnight. We'll likely wake up to light rain on Sunday morning, especially for areas along and east of Highway 63. Rain looks to exit before the lunch hour, leaving us with breezy north winds and much cooler temperatures as highs fall back into the lower 70s. Some stubborn clouds may stick around depending on how far east the low pressure system gets Sunday night into Monday, but we can count on a cool Monday morning with low temperatures in the lower to mid-50s. Next week looks dry as upper high pressure builds back over the region, but that also means we're in for more heat with temperatures getting back above average again into the upper 80s by Wednesday.
