Tracking a cooldown to well below-average temperatures this week

TODAY: Cool to start in the lower 60s. Partly cloudy skies subdue highs to the mid to low 80s.

THIS EVENING: Mostly cloudy and mild with steadily falling temperatures overnight.

EXTENDED: Subseasonal conditions have settled over the region today as a cold front moved through over the weekend. This frontal boundary has now stalled out to our southwest along a ridge of high pressure, leaving Central Missouri with partly to mostly cloudy skies today. As low pressure tracks along this boundary tonight, it will interact with low-level winds to produce a soaking round of rain early Tuesday. Showers initially move in just after midnight but will become most widespread from sunrise through the Tuesday morning commute. It'll take until early Wednesday for the low pressure to clear out, and Mid-MO is set to receive 1-2" of rainfall during this event. Temperatures take a big hit this week with highs in the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday and we likely won't reach above the mid-80s all week.
