Tracking a hot end to the weekend, heavy rain early this week

TODAY: Partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the low 90s. Heat index in the upper 90s.

TOMORROW: Cool to start the day with lows in the lower 60s. Northerly winds keep highs sub-seasonal in the mid to low 80s.

EXTENDED: High pressure continues to hold strong to our southwest, leading to one more day of above-average heat. However, a cold front is currently digging south and will work to cool conditions off to start the workweek. The ridge of high pressure is expected to be too close in proximity for any rain chances from this front, and Mid-MO stays dry through Monday. As the ridge finally retreats heading into Tuesday, a widespread round of soaking rain will track down the eastern edge into our area. Central Missouri is likely to receive 1-2" of rain throughout Tuesday with showers lingering into the early morning on Wednesday. Skies begin to clear later in the week but temperatures will feel fantastic as Mid-MO won't see the 90s again all week.
