Tracking heavy rain for parts of Mid-Missouri tonight

TONIGHT: Scattered showers and storms becoming more widespread overnight. A Flood Watch is in effect for areas south of Highway 50 through Tuesday morning. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Clouds decreasing with highs in the lower to mid-80s with lower humidity.

EXTENDED:  I'm tracking a cold front moving slowly across the area, cooling northern Missouri into the lower 80s today. Scattered showers and storms have developed generally south of I-44, but are expected to grow upscale tonight as we see increasing moisture along the front. Counties south of Highway 50 are in a Flood Watch through early tomorrow morning for the threat of heavy rain between 1-3". Isolated 4-5" amounts are possible for areas near the Lake of the Ozarks up I-44 into the St. Louis metro. Behind the front, we'll be in the low to mid-80s on Tuesday with drier weather for most of Mid-Missouri. A few afternoon storms are possible along the front across southern Missouri, but cooler air moves in behind it for the rest of the week. The upper pattern will keep high pressure just to our west, keeping the Midwest in line for northwesterly flow. This will keep temperatures near or below average for most of this week. The warmest day will be Thursday with highs in the low 90s, but we'll cool down with a dry cold front moving through on Friday as we close out the week with morning temperatures in the 60s and highs in the low to mid-80s. The weekend starts off dry with a potential chance at rain on Sunday and highs in the upper 80s.
