Tracking a warmup and record heat this week

TODAY: Cold start with lows again near freezing. Warm and bright this afternoon back in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: The warmup continues, pushing us near 60 degrees on Monday under more sunshine.

EXTENDED: Southerly winds will dominate the region in the first half of the week, potentially leading to record-breaking heat. The record high sits at 70 for Tuesday and Wednesday. Moisture builds by Tuesday and we may get a few showers throughout the day - this looks to prevent us from breaking the record with highs just short of it in the upper 60s. However, continued southerly flow may allow temperatures to break into the mid-70s by Wednesday. That's nearly 30 degrees above average for mid-December! A cold front will arrive Wednesday evening and kick off a round of showers and storms by early Thursday. This will push temperatures down to the 50s late week, still above average for this time of year. More disturbed conditions greet us next weekend which could bring temperatures closer to normal.
