Tracking today’s cold front and a fall from yesterday’s warmth

TODAY: Walking out the door this morning, you may be tricked into thinking Wednesday will be another incredibly warm day. We'll start with temperatures about 20 degrees warmer than average, in the mid-to high-50's. A few may even warm into the low 60's before a cold front sweeps the area. Showers and a trailing blanket of clouds will pass from the northwest to the southeast throughout the morning. Winds behind the front will be breezy, gusting as high as 25 mph. Wednesday will make for a much cooler feeling day with temperatures potentially dropping near 50, or high 40's this afternoon. Showers will be light with totals area wide less than a quarter of an inch.

TONIGHT: Clouds will linger late tonight into early Thursday morning, but skies should clear before sunrise. Expect lows early Thursday near freezing.

EXTENDED: A cold sunny morning will greet folks early Thursday. Despite abundant sunshine, Thursday is breezy and cool with a high in the mid-40's. A warm up will bring us back to more seasonal and dry conditions Friday and Saturday. Temperatures climb into the mid-to upper-50's Saturday and Sunday. Right now, Sunday looks dry, but a sneaky chance for rain hangs on Sunday. A wave will move through the region, but the question right now is timing and moisture availability. Currently, rain chances look to stay south of the area through the weekend, but it's something to track.
