Tracking the last round of rain before a nice weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder late. Lows in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder through late afternoon. Breezy with highs near 60.

EXTENDED: Clouds have started to filter back in as moisture returns from the south, but rain looks to stay along/near I-44 through about 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., then isolated to scattered showers and a few rumbles move in overnight. Scattered showers and a few storms move from west to east through the area tomorrow as the front finally exits to our east by late afternoon. Clouds linger through mid-evening, then we'll become mostly clear into Friday night. Temperatures only make it to about 60 on Friday afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts will range from about 0.25" to 0.5", with near 1" possible along the I-44 corridor. As skies clear out on Friday night, temperatures fall into the low 40s to start off the weekend. There could be a couple areas across northern parts of the state that fall into the 30s by Saturday morning. Saturday will be the cooler day of the weekend with a northwest breeze that keeps us in the low 60s during the day. Sunday is warmer, but with sunshine and 70 degrees it's going to be gorgeous. Typically we see our first frost around October 20th. This year it looks to be later, but after a seasonable start to next week we'll find ourselves cooling down into the 60s during the day late next week with some upper 30s to low 40s possible again next weekend. Fall is finally here!
