Staying winter-weather-ready this season
Winter weather can lead to tricky travel
Even though parts of mid-Missouri has seen its first snow of the season, a real, impactful winter event is still up for grabs. It's important to remember, especially when we get that first big event that while YOU may remember how to get around in snow, for others it may be a different story.
Remember that giving yourself extra time, and making sure your vehicle is adequately prepared will get you miles ahead of any problems to may run into when they first flakes fall.
Is your vehicle ready if you get stuck?
- Do you have an emergency kit? (Blankets, water, shovel, salt, flashlights, flares)
- Condition of tires? Tire pressure?
- Is the check engine light on? How are your oil levels? How about windshield washer fluid?
All it takes is ONE of those things to go wrong and you can run into BIG problems during the first big winter weather event.
And let's be real-- the weather this weekend is a GREAT excuse to get out and make sure this stuff is all in order!

MUCH more can be found in the National Weather Service's winter-weather-ready page.
