Tracking fleeting warm weather
WEDNESDAY: Another toasty afternoon on tap once again. Just about the only saving grace we might find will be a spot shower. Most of that activity will once again be around the I-44 corridor, however. The rest of us will see highs in the low 90’s with a heat index in the upper 90’s.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy overnight but quiet. Lows will only bottom out in the low 70’s.
EXTENDED: We may start to see the impacts of what’s left of Laura working up from Arkansas Thursday. An outer band might make it into our southern counties, but our better chances will wait until the center gets closer overnight. It still appears that most of the activity will stay to our southeast, so those impacts will be minimal. That means we get another warm afternoon with highs in the low 90’s both Thursday and Friday. As Laura slides east early on Saturday, a cold front will follow her through the area. If the timing slows down, our rain chances will increase during the afternoon. As of right now, the front looks to swing through too fast to amount to meaningful rain chances. However, that boundary will stall to our south and return late Sunday night into Monday, bringing rain chances back. It’s still looking pretty active with showers and storms off and on through Wednesday. That looks to keep highs out of the 90’s going forward.
