Tracking the return of winter today
TUESDAY: Light rain chances will start to ramp up into the early afternoon. As they do, a wintry mix will begin to work in. A light glaze of ice and sleet could lead to elevated surfaces becoming slick by this afternoon and evening commute. Temperatures will start out in the middle 30s and will trim off a few degrees by this afternoon into the lower 30s.
TONIGHT: That wintry mix will start to incorporate some more snow before a break in the activity is expected overnight. Lows fall into the middle 20s.
EXTENDED: Snow fills back in later tomorrow morning and looks to stick around into the afternoon. This is where the bulk of accumulations will occur, with 2-5 inches expected, with some locally higher amounts possible. Check out the Weather Alert Day Blog for the latest details on where to expect the higher amounts. That snow wraps up overnight into Thursday, but the morning commute looks like it could be slick still until crews improve the conditions. Sunshine should help out by Thursday afternoon, but temperatures will be held in the 30s through Friday, with more cloud cover expected on the final day of the workweek. Our next disturbance doesn't move in until the end of the weekend.
