WEATHER ALERT DAY UPDATE: Light accumulation possible with last push of snow tonight

SYNOPSIS

Precipitation continues to ride up a stationary boundary bringing heavy snow to the Midwest and several other precipitation types furth south and east.

PRECIP BREAKDOWN/TIMINGS

Precipitation is starting to slow down to our west and that should allow for road crews to begin to catch up on the snow roads across the viewing area. Temperatures remain in the 30s and upper 20s so untreated areas will remain snow-covered. After sunset, another round of light snow moves into the area, bringing an additional 0.5" to 1" overnight.

Continue to plan for significant delays as heavy snowfall led to many accidents this afternoon. We're continuing to expected delays and issues for the evening commute.

How much more will fall?

Snow has started to slow down across parts of the area. Most of mid-Missouri has trended on the lower end of this system, with many folks seeing 3-5 inches or less.

A dusting to an inch of additional snowfall is possible, with road temperatures staying below freezing overnight into Thursday.

Expect on and off snow showers through early Thursday morning.
