Tracking multiple chances for strong to severe storms today

TODAY: It is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day, as scattered severe storms are expected tonight. For the most detailed forecast, read our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog. I'm tracking storms developing in the west this afternoon, as soon as 3 pm for some. The majority of the area, though, will be dry at this point in time as temperatures reach into the low to mid-80s. From then, through the midnight hour, storms are expected to track from west to east, bringing a threat for damaging winds area-wide. Hail and tornadoes are possible as well, but damaging winds will be the main concern throughout all of this event.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking that the severe threat will be coming to an end by 10 pm-midnight, but most of the area could be receiving moderate to heavy, consistent rainfall, resulting in a potential for flooding overnight in the area.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking temperatures starting in the 40s on Saturday as lingering rainfall will be possible. As northerly winds arrive behind the front and rain exits, temperatures will slowly climb into the 50s. A frost is possible Sunday morning, as clear and calm conditions paired with continued northerly flow allow for efficient cooling overnight. Sunday through Wednesday of next week remains quiet, with temperatures gradually warming up to around average.
