Tracking roller coaster temperatures with Thursday showers and storms

Today: Temperatures look to continue to warm into the upper 60s this after with winds remaining out of the southeast at 5-10 mpg. A few light sprinkles are possible on the southwestern parts of Mid-Missouri towards the Lake of the Ozarks region, but overall Central Missouri remains pretty dry.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the mid 50s with partly cloudy sky conditions.

Extended: Temperatures near record highs Wednesday afternoon approaching the 80 degree mark thanks to continuous winds out of the south. A cold front creeps into Mid-Missouri by Thursday afternoon leading to widespread showers and storms. Strong winds and heavy downpours at times will become possible. Showers look to clear Friday morning. Temperatures plunge Friday afternoon as winds rush out of the north leading to highs back into the lower 40s this weekend into next.
