Tracking an impactful end of week system

TODAY: Breezy and warm conditions repeat today, with forecast highs right on par with where they were yesterday. Expect temperatures to climb into the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies with winds from the south sustained from 10 to 15 mph and gusting as high as 25-30 mph.

TONIGHT: Clouds will fill in overnight, and winds remain southerly at 5-10 mph. Temperatures hold in the low 60s overnight.

EXTENDED: It's a warm start on Friday, but we'll have the chance to see showers as we head out the door. Morning showers will taper off towards midday. Conditions are likely to remain cloudy, and winds gusty. Sustained winds will reach the 10-20 mph range, while gusts may reach 30+ mph at times. The big story Friday will be storms along a cold front in the evening. A cold front will move in late in the evening. This will spur severe thunderstorms in Oklahoma and Arkansas. A chance for strong to severe storms reaches farther north into eastern Kansas and western Missouri, but that threat will be waning as it approaches central Missouri. This line will have the potential for hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, but the threat for these will be very low locally. Rain will push through overnight, dumping an inch or more of much needed rainfall for most. It's looking like the heaviest rain will be over by daylight Saturday, but depending on the track of the center of low pressure, showers may return later in the morning. If your headed to the Mizzou game, rain chances are very low, but not zero for game time. Dry weather will return by Saturday afternoon, and we'll likely be treated to a sunset. Saturday will feel cool in the low 60s, but realistically this is near normal for this time of the year. Clouds stay gone for Sunday, with highs recovering into the upper 60s. We're dry and warm Monday, before a slim chance for rain on Tuesday. Given the limited chances for rain on Tuesday, and a dry day expected on Wednesday, next week is starting mostly dry.
