Tracking the return of hot and humid air, but also rain chances

TODAY: Thursday is starting cool, with temperatures in the low 60s to start the day. Dewpoints will remain in the low 60s, possibly even in the high 50s through the day today. This will make Thursday another pleasant feeling day. Mostly sunny skies carry us into the upper 80s to nearly 90.

TONIGHT: Temperatures won't fall as low early Friday with more wind mixing up the air. Additionally, wind turns southerly into Friday morning. Temperatures start Friday in the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: This wind shift out of the south comes as a weak cold front tries to approach from the northeast. It struggles to sweep through mid-Missouri, and likely stalls just northeast of us. This will leave us comparatively warm. This also means that low level moisture may pool near the front on our side, keeping us a bit more humid on Friday. Still, extra clouds with the boundary nearby may keep temperatures a few degrees cooler, in the mid-to-upper 80s. A better combination of warm and humid comes on Saturday as the surface humidity remains, and we see an uptick in winds a step up in the atmosphere. This brings temperatures into the 90s on Saturday. More warmth and continued humidity makes for feels like temperatures in the upper 90s on Saturday, and closer to triple digits possibly on Sunday. Meanwhile, aloft, the pattern will change to guide short waves of disturbances sort of along the same lines as the surface boundary. This means more activity will begin to blow into mid-Missouri by early next week, bringing better chances for scattered thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. As of now, the weekend is looking increasingly warm and humid, but dry.
