Tracking scattered showers and storms with near average temperatures returning

Today: A slow moving cold front will continue to pass through Central Missouri leading to scattered showers and storms throughout the day. Storms will begin to become the focal point this afternoon after 5 PM. Isolated heavy downpours and lightning will be the main threats. Afternoon high's top out at 90 degrees.

Tonight: Scattered showers and storms will continue across the southern half of Central Missouri. Areas well north of highway 70 look to remain dry. Overnight lows cool to the upper 60's and lower 70's.

Extended: The passing cold front will push to the southeast and eventually out of Central Missouri taking along with it showers and storms by late Tuesday evening. Rainfall totals will finish out near 0.5" across many areas with isolated 1.5" possible. Temperatures remain into the upper 80's for the second half of the week heading off into the weekend. Drier conditions persist Wednesday through Friday before more scattered showers and storms pull back in Saturday and Sunday.
