QUESTION OF THE DAY: Is misinformation on social media a serious problem?

An Olathe, Kansas, man identified himself over the weekend as the man arrested after the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade whose photograph went viral.

However, when it went viral, misinformation came with it.

Several posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed the man was an illegal immigrant and among the shooters who hurt more than 20 people. The man is an American citizen who was arrested for public drunkenness, but the misinformation had already been shared by several conservative state politicians.

Do you think misinformation on social media is a problem? Vote in the poll.
